Calcium is one of the necessary building blocks of plants that is essential to the success of your garden. This home made remedy can be used to supplement calcium right through the growing season. We use it regularly as a normal part of our soil drench feeding. This supplement can have magnesium added to it after the calcium has be dissolved into solution to transform it into a powerful Cal-Mag supplement that will greatly up your game going into this years growing season.

Equipment

  • 1 Outdoor cooktop Electric or propane (BBQ also works)
  • 1 Frying pan For toasting the egg shells
  • 1 Large jar or a couple smaller jars Smaller jars requires you to split the recipe accordingly
  • 1 wooden spatula or other similar utensil For stirring the egg shells

Materials

  • 3 Dozen Egg shells Toasted in pan
  • 1700 ml Apple cider vinegar (organic) Or white vinegar

Instructions

  • Remove inner membrane from shells immediately after cracking eggs and crush shells into small pieces. Toast crushed egg shells in heated pan on medium heat for 15-20 min.
  • Toast egg shells till they turn slightly brown but not burnt.
  • Dissolve egg shells in the vinegar at a ratio of 10:1 being 10 parts vinegar and one part toasted egg shell. To make a smaller or larger batch just stick to the 10:1 ratio and it will work just fine.
  • Dissolve shells for 7-10 days or until there is no longer and vinegar taste.
  • Separate solids and save liquid for use in the garden. Keep stored in the jars for as long as needed.
